South Windsor Public Schools is seeking a Human Resources Specialist to join a collaborative team supporting the Office of Personnel and Administration.
The ideal candidate will have the skills necessary to maintain a professional atmosphere in an office that is in constant contact with members of both the school community and the community at large.
The successful applicant must have strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, be able to maintain a variety of confidential information, and exhibit the capability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
This position is classified as a twelve (12) month work year with a seven and one-half (7.
5) hour work day plus a one-half hour (30 minute) unpaid lunch.
Qualification and responsibilities for the Human Resources Specialist include, but are not limited to:
Experience with financial and/or HR software to assist with processing and maintaining a variety of employment related records, including new hire documentation, attendance and leave accruals, employee status change, certification and licensure, salary updates and other confidential employee data.
Prior experience with MUNIS preferred.
Strong analytical skills, high attention to detail, excellent troubleshooting skills, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word and advanced Excel skills.
Experience with the Google Suite of Docs, Sheets, and Forms a plus.
Ability to collect, export, import, and manipulate data from multiple sources to construct reports.
Compile data as needed for state and federal reporting.
Proven experience working with confidential information while maintaining the highest degree of professionalism and discretion.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and act as a point of contact for employees who have routine questions regarding HR policies and procedures.
Serve as the chair of the district worker's compensation committee.
Experience with administering Worker's Compensation desired.
Collaborate with various district departments, including the Business Office, to ensure timely and accurate reporting of wages for over 800 district employees.
Prior experience maintaining and updating salary information and/or payroll preferred.
